Right on the heels of their 2012 Preakness celebration the I’ll Have Another team arrived at Belmont Park on Sunday, still on cloud nine. They made a decision to get the winner of the first two legs of the Triple Crown to Belmont as quickly as possible.

I'll Have Another was to leave at 8:00am but was a bit delayed as they fell behind schedule and then they got a first hand introduction to traffic in the New York metropolitan area, New Jersey Turnpike style. “We got kind of held up for about an hour and a half,” said Jack Sisterson, assistant to trainer Doug O’Neill. “I have no idea where we were, but besides that the horse was happy. He was just looking out the window the whole time. He and Lava Man were together, they were just chatting away the whole time.” They finally reached Belmont Park at around 2:45pm and were greeted by 20 or 30 members of the media and a NYRA security team.

When asked how I’ll Have Another came out of the race Sisterson happily said, “He was feeling fantastic, he ate everything up last night, and he was full of energy walking around today. He’s a neat sort of horse that every time he comes out of a race you never think he has run.”

Certainly Trainer Doug O'Neill was still on cloud nine, “Bring it on! We’re ready to go. Super-pumped! How he’s doing is going to dictate how we’re doing. This morning, he looks superb.”

Cloud nine seems to be the best way to describe the feelings around I’ll Have Another who seems to have nine as a lucky number. He won the Kentucky Derby from post position 19 and then the Preakness from the 9 slot on May the 19th while earning a 109
Beyer Speed Figure. The 2012 Belmont Stakes is scheduled for June 9th and no horse has won a Triple Crown on that date since Secretariat did it 39 years ago. Upon arrival in New York this foal of 2009 was settling down in his stall, which was of course located in Mark Hennig’s barn 9
