Meet the 25 trainers aiming for their first Breeders' Cup win
The names of the trainers that sit atop the list of Breeders’ Cup winners is, simply put, a collection of racing legends: D. Wayne Lukas (20), Bob Baffert (14), Aidan O’Brien (12), Bill Mott (10), Chad Brown (10) and Todd Pletcher (9), to name a few.
These stars of racing make it look so easy to win at the Breeders’ Cup, but there are only 14 world championship races a year, after all. Thus, there are many big-name trainers who are seeking an elusive first victory at Churchill Downs this Friday and Saturday.
Kenny McPeek, John Sadler,
and Christophe
Clement, for instance, have had no luck finding the winner’s circle at the
championships. Combined, they have been shut out in 103 tries. It is just
amazing that these three are winless at the Breeders’ Cup when you realize that
Sadler has 2,428 career victories, Clement 1,894 and McPeek 1,472.
Below is a list of trainers looking for that first win this year, along with the horses they've entered in Breeders' Cup races.
