For $115, Lazy Daisy's now 'My Racehorse' in the Breeders' Cup

On Friday, Lazy Daisy will walk over for the biggest challenge of her blossoming career as a racehorse when the 2-year-old filly from modest beginnings will take on the best in the world at Santa Anita Park in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.
With $1.1 million to the winner, and also the likelihood of a year-end Eclipse Award, the Juvenile Fillies is a race that owner’s dream about. Through the innovative new app, My Racehorse, my personal dream is about to become a reality.
My Racehorse allows users to enjoy the sport through an owner’s lens by purchasing “microshares” of a racehorse. I was able to acquire a $115 share of Lazy Daisy, who has won two of three starts, including Churchill Downs' Pocahontas Stakes (G2), and earned $174,800 for trainer Doug O’Neill. Now I am in line to potentially share in that seven-figure payday.
“I think it is absolutely fantastic what My Racehorse is doing,” O’Neill said. “It’s just the type of thing the game needs. It really brings a kind of energy that everyone involved can feel and for sure the horses do too.”
By Paynter, Lazy Daisy was a $39,000 purchase at this year’s OBS April 2-year-olds in training sale. Her extended ownership group includes ERJ Racing LLC, Great Friends Stable, CTR Racing, Tom Mansor, Jerry Croom, and finally all the shareholders at My Racehorse.
Lazy Daisy was dismissed by the bettors when winning the Pocahontas at 7-1 and she figures to again be lightly regarded against the distinguished group of fillies lined up for Friday. The morning line tabbed Lazy Daisy at 12-1 for the Juvenile Fillies, the third-longest shot on the board.
O’Neill said we have a shot to at least get a piece in the big one.
“I can tell you that she has been doing great, training really well,” O’Neill said. “That was a really good race she ran at Churchill last time. She has shown to be a versatile horse and [Rafael] Bejarano has won on her. We’re ready to go.”
Rising star Abel Cedillo rode Lazy Daisy in the 1 1/16-mile Pocahontas, in which she dueled on the lead and edged clear late to become a graded stakes winner. However, Cedillo will be aboard O’Neill’s other starter in the Juvenile Fillies, the 8-1 Comical.
Bejarano rode Lazy Daisy to a debut win from just off the pace at Del Mar on Aug. 3, then was also aboard for a fourth-place finish in the Del Mar Debutante (G1). The jockey does, by the way, have five Breeders' Cup wins, most recently with O'Neill-trained Goldencents in the 2014 Dirt Mile.

Championship weekend is almost here. It's time to let my horse do the talking.
