Road to the Derby podcast: Florida Derby preview show

Each week leading up to the 2019 Kentucky Derby, Horse Racing Nation hosts EJ Clark's Kentucky Winner's Circle podcast looking ahead to the top preps.

EJ Clark assembled a blockbuster cast to preview Saturday's Grade 1, $1 million Florida Derby when joined by Bourbon War trainer Mark Hennig and Jay Privman, national correspondent for the Daily Racing Form.
Privman says of the likely Florida Derby favorite Hidden Scroll: "I thought had a legitimate excuse for not running as well as he can because of a ridiculous pace he was forced to set while engaging a hopeless longshot" last time in the Fountain of Youth (G2).
Bourbon War, second in that race, turned a corner after his defeat last year in the Remsen (G2). He came back to win an allowance race to open his season, and it was then that jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. told Hennig "all the schooling they did with him before the Remsen really paid off."

For more insights ahead of the major Kentucky Derby prep, listen in -- and look for a new edition of the podcast next week.
