Watch: California Chrome back enjoying his Kentucky home

Two-time Horse of the Year California Chrome successfully completed another Southern Hemisphere breeding season stint at Haras Sumaya Stud in Chile. And that means an excuse to check in on the big horse, who by all accounts is looking great as he nears age 8.

Taylor Made Farm, which will stand Chrome for $35,000 in 2019, shared photos and videos of the champ upon his return Monday to Kentucky.

Requests to "bring Chrome home" meant something much different during his racing career, when fans balked at the decision to train him in Europe for a run at Royal Ascot. Discovered later to have cannon bone bruising, the son of Lucky Puplit got a break, then came back to win all but two of his final nine races along with another Eclipse Award.

California Chrome's start as a stallion has gone well, too, with his first foals born earlier this year. Multiple weanlings have since sold for six figures, while Taylor Made notes his average weanling sales price by both average ($116,714) and median ($130,000) rank fourth among freshmen sires.

Tickets are on sale for "The California Chrome Experience" at Taylor Made. Beginning Jan. 10, the tours include lunch, an up-close look at California Chrome's progeny and a parade by Chrome himself. Photos and videos are not only welcomed but encouraged, according to the event listing at VisitHorseCountry.com.
