Surely, Larry Collmus thought his most difficult race call of the year was behind him after a 20-horse Kentucky Derby, in which the favorite, Justify, was one of multiple horses wearing the same WinStar Farms silks.

Then came the Preakness Stakes.

You know the story by now: The rain moved out and fog rolled in Saturday at Pimlico Race Course, where the cover became so thick that the NBC announcer Collmus was forced to call part of the Triple Crown's second leg off the TV monitor.

Just how difficult that must have been was showcased when NBC posted the camera angle on Collmus, who's looking at the track, then binoculars, and then the TV feed within seconds, with the monitor showing a different angle of the race than his eyes.

It all culminated to a thrilling stretch run, and another classic call.
