Trying to make its own history, Kentucky basketball visits Justify
They're basketball players asked to accomplish quite a bit in just a few months. Many are so talented, they'll have just one shot at an NCAA title before going on to cash in as professional player.
So in a way, the University of Kentucky is college hoops' equivalent to Justify, what with all the "one and done" talent coach John Calipari brings to campus. And on Wednesday, Calipari took his crew to meet the Triple Crown winner on the Churchill Downs backside.
"What we're trying to do every year we play is make history and the talent," Calipari told his players, according to WAVE3 News.
Justify certainly did that, winning six races in a span of 112 days.
"Them seeing that this may not happen again for 34 years," Calipari added. "It may not -- and I told them on the bus, you take that individual picture and you are going to be able to look back and people are going to say, 'You were right next to that horse?' That's like American Pharoah, Secretariat."
Justify's getting better at hanging out with people, but he's still a high-strung horse whose patience was tested a bit. Or, maybe the colt just prefers local rival University of Louisville...
