Timber Town Stable, the new home of $9.5 million mare Songbird, announced Tuesday via Twitter that a match has been successfully made with her and Arrogate at the breeding shed.

A rare mating between two recently retired horses came about thanks to Mandy Pope, who purchased the champion Songbird at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale.

"They were both stars, of course," Timber Town tweeted, adding the hashtag #futurechampion for the foal we'll be getting to know this time next year.

A 5-year-old by Medaglia d'Oro, Songbird, who was campaigned by Rick Porter's Fox Hill Farm, won 13 of her 15 career starts. And of course Arrogate became a breakout performer the second half of of his 3-year-old season, taking the Grade 1 Travers in record time to begin an impressive streak of victories that ended with his last-to-first Dubai World Cup effort.

Arrogate, who stands at Juddmonte for an advertised fee of $75,000, is also being supported during a first breeding season with mares such as Grade 1 winner Paulassilverlining.
