The right way to pronounce Travers 2018's Wonder Gadot

When Larry Collmus switches his microphone on Saturday both for the New York Racing Association and NBC feeds of the 2018 Travers Stakes, he expects to pronounce filly Wonder Gadot's name properly.

It bets the question: What's the right way to say it anyway?

Since Wonder Gadot really burst onto the scene with a runner-up in the Kentucky Oaks, she has been called with a silent "T" (wrong) and a "guh-dot" (also wrong). That's according to Collmus, who said at the Travers draw he's been scouring the Internet for video of the proper pronunciation.

So, here's one:

Gal Gadot, of course, played the lead role in the 2017 film "Wonder Woman," for which Wonder Gadot owner Gary Barber named the daughter of Medaglia d'Oro.

You can skip to the 13-minute mark of this video to hear how Collmus plans to say it Saturday, only after talking directly to Barber. It's more of a "guh-dut."

For those still afraid of saying it wrong, consider trainer Mark Casse's approach: "Wonder Woman -- that's what I call her."

The Travers' 5-1 morning line third choice, Wonder Gadot enters off consecutive victories over males to open the Canadian Triple Crown series, including a 1 1/4-mile victory in the Queen's Plate. She's set to become the first filly to run in the Travers since Davona Dale in 1979 and vying to become the first female winner since Lady Rotha in 1915.
