Garrett Gomez's granddaughter ensures 'legacy will continue'

When Hall of Fame jockey Garrett Gomez died in 2016, he was survived by four children, one of whom seems prepared to pass on the craft to his own kid.

Victoria Gomez, wife of Collin Gomez, Garrett's first son, recently contacted us about a viral video of a toddler and horse. She feeds it, walks it and even gets a leg up, riding as if she's meant to.

And that all makes sense, because it turns out the youngster is Paisley Gomez, Garrett's 3-year-old granddaughter.

"As this video has gone viral," Victoria wrote to us, "I have found myself wanting to share this moment with Garrett's fans to show that his legacy will continue throughout the years."

Indeed.

The Gomezes live in Tennessee now after Collin's stint as an assistant to another Hall of Famer, Jerry Hollendorfer. Garrett Gomez, of course, won multiple Eclipse Awards, 13 Breeders' Cup races and the 2007 Kentucky Oaks aboard Rags to Riches.
