HorseCenter: Top picks for Travers Stakes, Personal Ensign

Photo:

This week on HorseCenter, your hosts Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman offer analysis and top picks for the Travers Stakes and Personal Ensign, two Grade 1 races from Saratoga with championship implications.

A field of eight 3-year-olds will contest the Travers, the signature summer event at Saratoga. Epicenter is the worthy favorite as the most consistent horse in the division since January. The Travers field includes the top three finishers from the Kentucky Derby along with the winner of the Preakness.

The field for the Personal Ensign has five horses from the older filly and mare division, including the four top-ranked members. Clairiere, who like Epicenter is from the barn of Steve Asmussen, was tabbed as the morning-line favorite.
