HorseCenter: Steve Sexton Mile and Texas Derby top picks

Photo:

This week on HorseCenter Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman review the popular win by Seize the Grey and D. Wayne Lukas in the Preakness. Your hosts also handicap and offer top picks for a pair of Memorial Day stakes from Lone Star Park in Texas.

At Lone Star Park, eight 3-year-olds are entered to run in the Texas Derby. These include several horses who made appearances on the Kentucky Derby trail, led by Informed Patriot from the barn of Steve Asmussen.

The featured race at the Texas track is the Grade 3, $400,000 Steve Sexton Mile. The field of eight comes from tracks all across the country and shapes up as a battle between top trainers. Asmussen has two in the race, Brad Cox brings Everso Mischievous back from a layoff and Mike Maker will run the probable favorite Frosted Grace.

Matt and Brian have their top picks and full-field analyses to guide you with the racing at Lone Star. Good luck and thanks for watching the show.
