HorseCenter: Rebel Stakes and Saudi Cup selections

Photo:

This week on HorseCenter, your hosts Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman make selections for the Grade 1 Rebel Stakes, a $1 million prep race at Oaklawn Park for the 2020 Kentucky Derby, as well as the $20 million Saudi Cup.

In the Rebel, 11 3-year-olds, led by Newgrange, will contend for the big purse money while all but that Bob Baffert runner will vie for the increased qualifying points for the Run for the Roses.

Defending Saudi Cup winner Mishriff will try to become the richest thoroughbred in history if he can take home the $10 million first-place prize again. He will have to beat Mandaloun, the leader of an American contingent that includes his rival Midnight Bourbon.

As always, thanks for watching the show.
