HorseCenter: Ohio Derby, Lady Jacqueline analysis & top picks
This week on HorseCenter, your co-hosts Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman offer analysis and top picks for two stakes races at Thistledown. Headlining the card is the Grade 3 Ohio Derby led by Two Phil's and Bishops Bay.
The biggest day in the Buckeye State's Thoroughbred racing will happen on Saturday at Thistledown in the suburbs of Cleveland and will feature the Ohio Derby. The 1 1/8-mile race drew a field of eight 3-year-olds including Two Phil’s, the second-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby, and Bishops Bay, who was just a head behind the Belmont Stakes winner Arcangelo in the Peter Pan (G3).
The $250,000 Lady Jacqueline for older fillies and mares attracted a full field including morning-line favorite Interstatedaydream from the barn of Brad Cox. It won’t be easy as this field is loaded with early speed, and there a few talented late runners.
Matt and Brian have four different top picks for those two races.
