This week on HorseCenter, hosts Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman preview and handicap four graded stakes races on the traditional opening Wednesday card at Santa Anita Park.

Leading the way is the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes, which drew a full field of 3-year-olds including McKinzie and Axelrod, who shorten up to seven furlongs from the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Also on the card is the La Brea (G1) for 3-year-old fillies; the San Antonio Stakes (G2) for 3-year-olds and up; and the Mathis Brothers Mile (G2) for sophomores on the grass.

We'd like to wish a happy New Year to all of our viewers. As always, thanks for watching the show. We will see you in 2019!
