HorseCenter: Kentucky Derby 2023 contenders and pretenders

Photo:

This week on HorseCenter, your hosts Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman analyze the 26 horses still hoping to enter Kentucky Derby 2023. Your hosts also offer their opinions on whether each is a contender or a pretender.

Matt and Brian begin the process of handicapping the Run for the Roses by identifying the 3-year-olds as contenders who might be used for a win bet or in the vertical exotic wagers – exacta, trifecta and superfecta. Marking horses as pretenders cuts the field down to a more typical size as the Derby is the only American race with a 20-horse field.

Upcoming Kentucky Derby shows will take a look at the post-position draw, the pace scenario, recommended wagers, and final picks and analysis. So be sure to join the guys and, as always, thanks for watching the show.
