HorseCenter: Cigar Mile and Remsen Stakes top picks

Photo:

This week on HorseCenter, Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman handicap and offer top picks for a pair of wide-open graded stakes races from Aqueduct. Everso Mischievous could be a tepid favorite in the Grade 2, $500,000 Cigar Mile, and the well-bred Dornoch is one of many interesting Kentucky Derby hopefuls running in the Remsen (G2).

There should be plenty of betting opportunities in the 12-horse field of the Cigar Mile. Chad Brown has three entered in the one-turn mile, which is the final graded-stakes race of the year on the New York Racing Association circuit. In addition to the likely favorites from Brown, Todd Pletcher and Brad Cox, a few horses have a chance to become $1 million earners with a victory.

The Remsen is a Kentucky Derby points race that also drew a large and competitive field goingthat nine furlongs. Sierra Leone was a debut winner for Chad Brown who sold for $2.3 million as a yearling. Red hot trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. saddles stakes winner Where’s Chris.

The Saturday card features graded stakes that form the late pick 4, so good luck with your wagers at the Big A. As always, thanks for watching the show.
