HorseCenter: Breeders' Futurity and American Pharoah picks
{{monthName}} {{day}}, {{year}} {{hour12}}:{{minuteTwoDigit}}{{dayPeriod}}
This week on HorseCenter, your hosts Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman offer analysis and top picks for two key preps for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. The American Pharoah is Saturday at Santa Anita and there is a very competitive edition of the Breeders' Futurity from Keeneland.
The American Pharoah drew a field eight, including four from the barn of Bob Baffert. Most experts consider Cave Rock the leading 2-year-old in the country, and right now he is the top juvenile who has run this year for Baffert.
The Breeders’ Futurity drew an overflow field of 16 as connections look to get a race over the Keeneland track where the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile will be run in about four weeks. Handicappers will be challenged by this race, where it will be hard enough to identify the favorite let alone pick a winner. Todd Pletcher has Forte and Lost Ark in the field, and one of them could end up being a lukewarm top choice of the bettors.
Matt and Brian have four different top picks this week with a shorter-price horse selected along with a long shot. Enjoy watching the 2-year-olds from both sides of the country and, as always, thanks for watching the show.
