HorseCenter: 2023 Travers, Personal Ensign analysis

This week on HorseCenter your hosts Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman analyze the 2023 Travers Stakes and discuss its importance in the Eclipse Award race. Your hosts also handicap and offer selections for Friday's Grade 1 Personal Ensign featuring Nest.

The Grade 1, $1.25 million Travers Stakes drew the winners of the three Triple Crown races for the first time since 2017, and they are joined by the reigning 2-year-old champion. The anticipated matchup of Mage, National Treasure, Arcangelo and Forte could produce a winner who will move to the top of the 3-year-old division.

The Personal Ensign features a rematch between Nest and Clairiere. They met earlier in the summer in the Shuvee (G2), and Nest defeated Clairiere by more than two lengths. Nest has a perfect record at Saratoga in three graded-stakes races.
