The single day on-track handle on Travers day of $9,390,934 set a record topping the $8,642,160 wagered on Travers day in 1991. The total commingled handle of $39,489,786 on Travers day surpassed the old record of $34,529,273 also set in 1991. ~2003
Man O' War went back to his winning ways in the Grand Union Hotel Stakes at Saratoga when he won by a length, while being eased at the end. He again carried 130 pounds, giving up 5-18 pounds to the others. He covered the 6 furlongs in 1:12 flat, and earned $7,600.
