Dr. Fager - fondly known as The Doctor - died as a result of a colon obstruction at Tartan Farm in Florida at the age of 12. His race record stands at 18 wins, 2 seconds and one third in 22 starts, with earnings of $1,002,642. His many accomplishments include a track and world record at Arlington Park at the age of 4, while carrying 134 pounds, he was named Eclipse Champion 5 times - 4 of which were in the same year, only horse to ever achieve that, inducted into the HOF, and was ranked 6th on Blood Horse's list of top 100 US Champions of the 20th Century. Dr. Fager will always be remembered as one of the toughest horses to ever look through a bridle. Proof of that is the fact that only 3 horses ever finished in front of him - Champion juvenile Successor, Horse of the Year Damascus and HOTY Buckpasser. ~1976
