Wise Dan's Half-Sister, Enchanting Lisa, Debuts

Great racing this week kicks off tomorrow with no shortage of story lines. Mucho Macho Man and My Happy Face return in a pair of overnight stakes (read about it here), and the courageous Paynter makes his 2013 debut in a NW3X at Betfair Hollywood Park on Friday (read about it here). Don’t let all the anticipation surrounding these returns cause you to miss what happens tonight, because something just as exciting takes place. Enchanting Lisa, half sister to Wise Dan and Successful Dan, makes her career debut in Race 8 at Presque Isle Downs tonight.

Out of Lisa Danielle, and by War Chant, Enchanting Lisa is a bay 3-year old filly. Like her two older brothers, she is owned by Morton Fink and trained by Charles LoPresti. She has been in training at Keeneland and has put in some nice, solid works over the past month or so. Her most recent work was a 4 furlong move in 48:40 (20/66) on June 8.

After a couple of scratches, Enchanting Lisa will face a field of 8 other fillies and mares. Based on breeding alone, it is not likely that Enchanting Lisa will have an easy time of breaking her maiden in this spot.  Among her rivals are Wisenbossy, a daughter of Wise Dan’s sire Wiseman’s Ferry, and Personalized, a 4-year old filly by Successful Dan’s sire Successful Appeal. Also in the field is the regally bred trio of Tales to Tell, Personalized, and Supreme Maker.

From the rail out, here is the field for the 1 mile 70 yard maiden affair:

1. Guns N Jewelry—(Indian Ocean—Pushy Broad, by Brocco)                20/1

2. Tales to Tell—(Tale of the Cat—Silver Lover, by Silver Deputy)          15/1

3. Wisenbossy—(Wiseman’s Ferry—Bold n’ Bossy, by Nines Wild)            8/1

4. Personalized—(Successful Appeal—Go Anna, by Storm Cat)               8/1

5. Making Mark Money                                                               Scratched

6. Enchanting Lisa—(War Chant—Lisa Danielle, by Wolf Power [SAF])     6/1

7. Award—(Midnight Lute—Our Royal Lady, by Seeking the Gold)             9/2

8. First in Time—(Broken Vow—Moon Maven, by Dixieland Band)             4/1

9. Supreme Maker—(Empire Maker—A.P. Dream, by A.P. Indy)               3/1

10. Mizzilli—(Mizzen Mast—Cat’s Glow, by Sir Cat)                                    7/2

11. Clay Pigeon                                                                             Scratched

The breeders of Empire Way and Lentenor, Margano, Nicanor, and Pennmarydel will be quick to tell you that lightning rarely strikes twice. Though it remains to be seen how successful Pennmarydel will be, the other three full brothers to champion Barbaro have not been nearly as successful on the track as their Kentucky Derby winning brother. The same can be said of Empire Way, a full brother to champion Royal Delta. However, the offspring of Lisa Danielle have been quite successful, and she has already produced three stakes winners. Enchanting Lisa is just beginning her career, but with her breeding, the odds are in her favor that she will be successful.
