The magic of Royal Ascot threw up the greatest story of them all as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II won the Ascot Gold Cup with to the delight of every single attendee on this glorious day.

A winner at this meeting in the Queens' Vase last year, Estimate had been targeted towards this race since that victory. A lightly raced four year old given to The Queen by the Aga Khan, Estimate remains unbeaten at this track with three victories to her name at her majesty's racecourse.
Day Three at Royal Ascot has been a day to savour, a day of emotions where the racing gods have provided us with fairytale stories one after the other. Victory for The Queen in the race she holds dear, and the race that remains the feature of her own internationally renowned festival, is one that means oh so much.
A strong lover of breeding, a victory in her race with a filly is one that means even more than if a homebred colt were to win this race. In time Estimate will retire to The Queen's own stud with the hopes of breeding further success for her majesty but for now a well earnt rest will be the ultimate prize for the four year old daughter of Monsun nine months after the untimely death of her sire.
"This rates as highly as anything and I know the pleasure it will have given The Queen," said winning trainer Sir Michael Stoute. "She really loves this game and it's a great recreation for her. she told me it was a big thrill and thanked everybody involved."
"Estimate is full of guts, very courageous and she relaxes so well in races which makes her a good staying filly. We've given her time between races in the past and looked after her and now she's looking after us. I could make a case for her getting better."
"This win is very high on my list, because it's been done for a lady who, never mind being The Queen, loves racing, is a great supporter of racing and is so good for British racing."

Victory for Estimate provided Sir Michael Stoute with a first Group 1 victory since the dominant performance of Workforce in the 2010 Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe. There could be no more fitting victory for him to propel back amongst the elite of British horse racing.
