Kentucky Downs Play of the Day 9/8/16

On opening day of the 2016 Kentucky Downs meet my play of the day just missed. I tabbed the winner in the first half of the Daily Double and my three horses in the second half finished 2-3-4. Today I'm taking a shot in an Exacta in the feature race of the day.

Race 9 - Old Friends Stakes

The lone stakes on the card drew a full field and looks pretty competitive. At least it did at first glance. After looking through it again I found one horse that looks like a standout.

My top choice and best bet of the day is #10 Bigger Picture. He has three wins in his last four starts with the loss coming in the G1 United Nations Stakes. He is making his third start off a layoff, draws well and fits the pace profile of the race.

Underneath him there are three horses that I think can fill out the Exacta.

Western Reserve (#1) draws the rail and hails from the Bill Mott barn. He is also in good form and fits on class and speed figures. Just to his outside is Perfectly Majestic (#2) who should be finishing strong late in the race. Lastly on the outside is Power Ped (#11) who has a win and second in two starts over the track. He should be a good price because of his recent form but with a proven likeness for the Kentucky Downs turf course can revert back to his old self.

How to Play the Race

I have no real preference for any of the three underneath horses over the others so I will play all three the same in the Exacta with Bigger Picture.

$15.00 Exacta 10 / 1,2,11

Good luck on day two of the Kentucky Downs meet and check back later this week for plays of the day for Saturday and Sunday's cards.
