DerbyWars $25,000 July Head to Head Final Four Profile - Funkymonkey

Tony Calabrese's (Funkymonkey) hopes of a $25,000 July Head to Head Championship Title was nearly silenced in the Elite Eight by Dallas Kingsolver (dallydal51). Kingsolver had Tony on the ropes and with just one race left in the contest, Tony would need at least $28.40 to surpass Kingsolver. Thanks to Weewinnin ($31.00) and another great ride by Joe Talamo, Tony Calabrese needs just two more wins to become the $25,000 July Head to Head Champion.

“I'm only two thirds of the way there in this competition...four down - two to go.  Anything less than first place will only be considered a partial success."

-Tony Calabrese

Saying less than a championship win would only be a partial victory is certainly a confident statement, but over the course time, Tony’s play has shown he means business. Tony has put in a scintillating run through four tough matches. He has put away a strong group including one of DerbyWars strongest and most experienced head to head players “bet4thinknomore”. Tony takes on possibly the hottest player on DerbyWars Mike Lazarus (Mikelaz) in the Final Four. He continues to get one step closer to the $10,000 first place prize.

So where did Tony come from?

“Cannot really remember...so long ago, said Calabrese.  I'm largely self-taught and have no family connection to the world of racing or handicapping.”

Tony is now far from a stranger to the horse racing scene. His strong handicapping prowess comes from years of his own personal experiences. He started as a dark horse in the world of handicapping due to his lack of pedigree but his accomplishments have made him a force in the game.

This weekend Tony has an opportunity to add yet another big win to his resume on his favorite racing site:

“...Customer service, contest interface, big time contest payouts and player competition levels all work together to make Derby Wars the top handicapping contest site around...I've played at other sites and none compare to Derby Wars...in a league of your own.”
