$25,000 August Bracket Down to FINAL FOUR Players

The August $25,000 Head to Head Championship started with sixty-four title dreamers and has been reduced to only four. Kenneth McMahan (Badkenny), Robert Flaska (Puglsey), Mike Martin (Actioncatxmike) and Evan Trommer (Dawhof) make up these four hopes and all look to become the next DerbyWars Head to Head Champion. We've seen some downright scintillating performances in the first four rounds of the competition. Heartbreak, triumph, upsets and a few down-and-dirty battles have produced a great Final Four

Let's take a look back at this past weekend's Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight matches

Kenneth McMahan (BadKenny) scraped out a close one against (Jt_ontheside) pulling out a $20.80-$11.70 victory. He would need good performance against $100,000 Game Champion Barbara Bowley (Sophia) given the assumption Bowley would put up more than $11.70. Bowley was coming off a narrow $25.00-$22.00 victory against (Bbakowski). Both players would need to step their game up if they were going to punch their final four ticket.

McMahan and Bowley were both able to get on the board in the second contest race from Saratoga with Scatcapade ($14.80) The match was promising to be a thriller, but Bowley was only able to add to her total once compared to McMahan's five additional cashes. McMahan went on to a $42.60-$20.50 victory and claim the first spot in the Final Four.

Richard Wojcieski (Wywo2009) rode Embellish the Lace in Saratoga's Grade I Alabama S. to a gate to wire victory over against one of Evan Trommer's (Dawhof) two entries. The $80.00-$40.60 win booked him a spot in the Elite Eight with Robert Flaska (Pugsley)

Flaska was coming off a $37.40-$26.90 victory over (Groffie). Both Wojcieski and Flaska had rolled right through the first three rounds of the tournament and were in for a dog fight. Wojcieski cashed in on Bugle Blues ($34.30) and took a commanding lead over Flaska. Robert Flaska would have to respond and he did nothing short of that. He went on to cash in seven of the twelve races including a thirty-five dollar horse in Horizontallyspeakin. The win meant Wojcieski was going home with $1,250 and Flaska was on to fry bigger fish in the Final Four.

Mike Martin (Actioncatxmike) defeated

(Chiliking) by a total of $44.50-$33.70 on his way to the Elite Eight and Stephen McNatton (Summersquall). McNatton's spot in the Elite Eight was jeopardized by a late Sweet Sixteen rally by (Kapper24). McNatton was leading by a comfortable margin when Kapper connected on a $22.40 horse with only three to go. McNatton sat and watched Kapper's horses fail to hit the board and he would have to sweat it out no longer. Mike Martin made Mcnatton sweat a bit more, as McNatton was only able to cash one of twelve contest races and Martin's $24.80 total was good enough for a Final Four appearance.

Duane Dotts (Duane16858) had

put up ridiculous scores in the Round of 64 and Round of 32 and needed one more against (Greg42690) to get to Evan Trommer (Dawhof) in the Elite Eight. It wasn't quite the dominating victory Dotts may have hoped for, but the $37.00-$23.40 win was good enough. Evan Trommer would presumably need to bring his 'A-game' to derail the freight train of Duane Dotts and his three digit totals, but this was far from the case. While Trommer continued to put points on the board, Dotts was drawing blanks. Trommer rarely had to worry about his chances of a Final Four appearance and won with a final score of $50.70-$0.00. Trommer started with two entries in the competition and has used the most of them. He's just two wins for becoming the next DerbyWars Head to Head Champion.

The $25,000 August Head to Head Championship is now anyone's game. The four remaining players are in for the fight of a lifetime and one will emerge as the next DerbyWars Head to Head Champion.
