As racing fans and horseplayers witnessed American Pharoah make history at Belmont Park on Saturday, DerbyWars was crowning it's own newest $25,000 game champ, Michael Tanzer (Oreo)!

Tanzer outplayed 121 others to take down the $10,000 first prize in Saturday's $25,000 Belmont Day game! His final score was $129.70 after the last of 12 races at Belmont and Santa Anita, including the historic Belmont Stakes. Tanzer picked runner-up Frosted in the feature, his lowest-scoring pick of the contest. His big break came with the upset win of Slumber in the Manhattan just before the Belmont.

In second place with a final score of $100.80 was Dustin Haluska (Dhaluska), who made a strong late run to hit the final 4 races in the contest. Haluska gets $5,000 for his effort. In third place was 2014 NHC Tour champ, Brent Sumja (bsumone), with a final score of $96.50 for the $2,000 prize. Eric Roth (Er31) rounded out the top 4 finishers with a score of $92.30 for the $1,000 prize.

Of the Belmont runners, Frosted was the most popular contest choice, with 24 players making him their primary selection. Mubtaahij was the second most-picked horse, with 23 players landing on him. American Pharoah was the primary choice of 7 players, though at his short odds it was no surprise players were taking a stand against him in the contest, if not in their hearts.

On Sunday, Steven Meier (Greybear) took down the $10,000 High STakes game! Meier triumphed over 29 other entries with a final score of $99, though it was tight at the top. Only $3 separated him from runner-up, $100K winner, Taytay. Jim T. (Taytay) finished with $96 in the bank and Mark McGuire (Maguru) finished third with a final score of $94.40.

It was a long way back to the fourth-place finisher, but only the top 3 get the prize in a High Stakes game!
