There were fireworks on DerbyWars over the 4th of July weekend, with the $100,000 July contest the biggest boom of them all!

Bill Shurman (JasWas) defeated 133 other entries to take down the $50,000 top prize. Shurman prevailed over two days and 20 races to win with a final score of $125.20. We'll have more on Shurman's contest strategy to come!

In second place, Mike Lazarus (Mikelas) was just $2.50 away from the top score after hitting some big bombs at Belmont and Gulfstream. He takes home $20,000 for his incredible effort.

2013 NHC Tour Champ, Brent Sumja (Bsumone), finished in third with a final score of $111.10 and wins $10,000.

Robert Reidy (Benz42086) finished in fourth place with a final score of $106 to win $5,000.

The strength of this game's competition was second-to-none. Three previous $100K winners finished in the top 10 - $100K Halloween winner, Tony Kite (Akiteflier) (5th place), $100K December winner, Barbara Bowley (Sophia) (6th place), and Brett Wiener (Bwiener), the inaugural $100K winner (10th place)!

The top 4 finishers also won a spot in the $100K Whitney Day contest - and you can join them if you qualify today!

In second place was Travis Culver (Tculver) with a final score of $93. In third place was Brian Lauzurica (TheBid) with $91.20. James Casey (Eyeguy) finished in fourth place with $86.90.

These top 4 finishers also earned a spot in the Whitney Day $100K!

SUNDAY $10Ks!

The big money games did not end with the last fireworks on Saturday - there were TWO $10,000 contests on July 5th!

The $10,000 Sunday High Stakes game went to Dan Shugar (Hockeyman), whose winning play came in the very last race! His final score was $80.70, topped by Laurie's Store in the Gulfstream Park finale. Steve Pavich (Pav) finished second, and Francis Cappello (Tonymanny) was third.

Finally, the day's big races were combined to create a $10,000 All-Stakes Lockdown contest that featured the new Win-Place-Show scoring! Winner Anthony Infante (Tampatony) played this to his advantage, collecting 4 different show placings to boost his score to the top of the leaderboard!

In second was Bobby Brendler (Roundman) and in third place was Eric Boyd (Skeetb71).
