My Boy Jack, the popular Keith Desormeaux trainee who surprised as the Kentucky Derby's second betting choice, won't factor in the summer classics.
The colt's co-owner, Don't Tell My Wife Stables, announced Saturday that My Boy Jack will get "90 days off to refresh his batteries."
A son of Creative Cause, My Boy Jack ran eighth of nine last out in the July 7 Belmont Derby Invitational, a Grade 1 race on the turf.
The Don't Tell My Wife Stables announcement indicated the horse would race "in 2019 and beyond."
My Boy Jack was a closing fifth in the Derby. Before that, he won Keeneland's Transylvania (G3), was third by 3/4 of a length in the Louisiana Derby (G2) and won the Southwest Stakes (G3) on the Triple Crown trail.
Overall, he sports a record of 3-3-2 in 12 starts with earnings of more than $700,000.
