Before Bravazo ran in the Belmont Stakes, becoming the only horse other than Justify to contest all three legs of the Triple Crown series, trainer D. Wayne Lukas promised we'd see plenty of the colt this year.
"The thing that could help us is, we have a tough horse," Lukas said earlier this month. "He bounces back very well, evidently. We could very easily go Jim Dandy-Travers, Lukas Classic here, Breeders' Cup Classic.
"That's what we need to do. We need to keep showing up, showing up...not that that'll make us champion by any means, but that will make him more valuable for sure."
Lukas will, according to the Daily Racing Form's Marty McGee, point the son of Awesome Again to either the Grade 2 Jim Dandy run July 28 at Saratoga or the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational on July 29 at Monmouth Park.
“We’ll go up to Saratoga and take a look around," Lukas told DRF, "maybe see what some of the others are doing. We’ll be taking a hard look at the Haskell, of course, and the Jim Dandy.”
Bravazo ran sixth in the Belmont, following up on a runner-up finish in the Preakness and sixth-place effort in the Kentucky Derby. Going back to February, he's a Grade 2 winner of Fair Grounds' Risen Star and opened his 3-year-old campaign with an impressive allowance score at Oaklawn Park.
