2016 NHC Tournament and the Tampa Bay Downs Trio

Tampa Bay Downs will be well represented in this year's 2016 NHC tournament in Las Vegas at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. There will be over 500 entrants, and there will be at least two regulars, and one previous patron from Tampa Bay Downs.

The first entrant is Kim Shurtleff from the New Port Richey area. Kim qualified in the Twin Spires tournament held November 28, 2015. Kim finished 6 out of over 700 entrants to qualify. This will be her first NHC tournament entry, but she has qualified for the Horse Players World Series two previous years.

The second entrant is Frank Petrino from the Tampa area. Frank qualified for the NHC tournament by entering the online NHC qualifier held at Del Mar Race Course that ended on November 29, 2015. Frank finished first out of over 3000 entrants. This will be his first entry in the NHC tournament. Since that tournament, he has entered several other NHC tour tournaments, and he has steadily worked his way up the NHC standings.

The final entrant is Brett Workman, who spent many days at Tampa Bay Downs with Big Daddy B. This is where Brett honed his handicapping skills. Brett has since moved, and now calls Churchill Downs his home track. Brett qualified at the onsite qualifier held at Hawthorne Race Course on November 28, 2015. He finished third out of 185 entrants to earn his seat. This is Brett’s first NHC entry, but he did qualify for the 2015 Horse Players World Series.

I believe any one of these three entrants have a great chance to cash in this tournament. This tournament sets up well for the handicapping skills that these three people possess. I will keep you informed on the tournament progress since I will be there as an observer. I am hoping that there are some positive results for this Tampa Trio.

May the finish line always be your friend,

Big Daddy B
