Wednesday's Best Bet: South Bend is proven at Keeneland

Wednesday’s seventh race from Keeneland is an allowance event with a purse of $140,000 for 3-year-olds and up dashing 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track. The scheduled post time is 4:12 p.m. EDT.

No. 1 South Bend (9-2) turned back in distance and rallied for the place at Churchill Downs last time. He was the only closer making up any ground in that slow early/fast late event. He captured two of his three local starts and can make some noise in the lane if the pace heats up. 

No. 7 Prevalence (2-1) won the Commonwealth Stakes in the local slop in the spring. He runs well fresh and should work out a decent outside tactical trip.

No. 2 Here Mi Song (5-1) rallied to win his last two dirts sprints. The sharp gelding ran well in both previous starts at Keeneland. 

No. 5 Heart Rhythm (12-1) is worth a look underneath. He captured both of his local starts and was claimed out of his last start for $100k.
