No. 1 RIBBONS AND METALS (5-2) stretched out, returned to all-weather ground, set the pace, dueled, and missed by a neck May 18. He turned back, stalked the pace, and was clearly second best June 1. He is back in a local route and reunites with Pablo Morales, and he should be in the hunt throughout from the advantageous inside post.
No. 2 Franz Josef (7-2) stalked the pace and was best of the rest in 3rd in his local sprint return May 16, and the winner and runner-up both won their next starts. He graduated in a local route in 2020.
No. 6 Guaco (3-1) was part of the exacta in nine of his last ten starts. He stretches back out in distance but is 0-for-5 at one mile. He moves to a sharp local barn and his new rider Antonio Gallardo has been on a roll recently.
No. 8 Orazio (9-2) is a versatile gelding exiting a rallying runner-up finish in a local route. He was pinched back early last time and the pace was above par. He set the pace and finished 3rd April 1, and stalked multiple times last year. Huber Villa-Gomez knows the three-time local winner now and he might move up in his second start after a short layoff.
