Wednesday’s Best Bet: Luyv can upset the field at Fair Grounds

Wednesday’s seventh race at Fair Grounds is a $59,000 allowance event for Louisiana-bred fillies and mares who never have won three races. They will be dashing six furlongs on the main track. The scheduled post time is 4:45 p.m. EDT.

No. 7 Luyv (8-1) is a consistent dirt sprinter exiting a neck defeat at Delta Downs. She won a local allowance sprint late last year and should offer value.

No. 6 Cankton’s Cowgirl (10-1) won her last two starts at Delta Downs. The sharp filly should impact the pace at a price.

No. 1 Freeburn (2-1) ran well in all five dirt sprints. Steve Amsussen’s filly exits a sharp local win as the favorite Feb. 22.

No. 4 Guitar Solo (8-5) faded in the mud in a flat-mile stakes at Delta Downs on Feb. 3. The logical win contender turns back and should be forwardly placed.
