#4 LAKE AVENUE (9-2) has been brilliant at times in her career. She was excellent in her four wins and two of those were stakes scores. Bill Mott has kept her around one turn this year and she shows two sharp wins and a neck defeat from those four starts. She shortens up a furlong and Junior Alvarado rides her well.
#9 Bell’s The One (7-5) dropped out of the graded ranks and got back on the beam in the Roxelana Stakes at Churchill Downs June 19. She captured all four of her starts at this distance and should get pace to chase.
#6 Don’t Call Me Mary (12-1) removed blinkers and learned how to rate and finish in her last three starts for Todd Pletcher. She projects a decent outer stalking trip and might outrun her morning line odds.
#7 Honey I’m Good (6-1) exits a gritty front running win in the Regret Stakes in the mud at Monmouth Park. She always runs her early-pressing race at this distance.
#1 Ain’t No Elmers (6-1) earned an improved speed rating in a sharp front running victory in an optional claiming dirt sprint at Churchill Downs, and the show finisher was a next-out winner. That was her second start in blinkers and she almost has to hustle early to maintain position. She scratched out of Monday’s Andy Guest Stakes at Colonial Downs. That race was a turf sprint and they chose this deeper graded affair on dirt instead.
#8 Miss Mosaic (15-1) could not keep pace with Bell’s The One in a show finish in the Roxelana last time. She fired in both dirt sprint attempts and will likely stalk wide.
#2 Regan’s Edge (6-1) ran some decent races in the sophomore filly stakes ranks last year and returned with an okay show finish as the beaten favorite at Churchill Downs June 24. The consistent filly has every right to move forward.
#3 Sadie Lady (12-1) set the pace and kept on going in three of her last four dirt sprints. The New York-bred filly will almost certainly impact the pace.
#5 Truth Hurts (30-1) added blinkers and romped in the slop in the Perfect Sting Stakes July 3, and that four-horse affair was originally scheduled for turf. She needs to run faster to compete with this group.
