Wednesday's Best Bet: Gramercy responds at Tampa Bay Downs
Wednesday’s 7th race from Tampa Bay Downs is an optional claiming event for fillies and mares dashing seven furlongs on the main track (Post Time 3:25 p.m. EST).
No. 7 GRAMERCY (9-2) won both extended sprints at Arlington Park including a sharp victory under Wednesday’s pilot Rocco Bowen Aug. 27. Eoin Harty is off to a fast start at the new meet and she should be right there if she handles dirt. She tried the main track once and ran last in the Alcibiades (G1) last year.
No. 4 Striking Chrome (3-1) fired trifecta shots in nine of her last ten starts including a sharp last-out win in a dirt route at Delaware Park Oct. 28. She scored at this course and distance Jan. 9.
No. 6 Clay’s Moon Stone (4-1) was part of the exacta in eight of her last ten starts. She earned an improved speed rating in a rallying flat mile win Sept. 12, and the clear runner-up finisher was a next-out winner.
No. 5 Baydar (7-2) won a trio of local extended sprints earlier this year. The fresh mare reconnects with her winning rider Hector Diaz Jr.
No. 3 Say Moi (7-2) defeated a next-out winner at Delaware Park Oct. 4 and that was her first victory in quite some time. She might take more win action than she should for Bill Mott, and I do not completely trust her to run two alike.
