No. 4 CLAPTON (5-1) hooked impressive returnee King Cab and was best of the rest in 3rd in a similar local extended sprint Feb. 3. Jose Ortiz knows him now, this slightly shorter trip helps, and he projects a favorable trip stalking lively fractions in his third start after a layoff.
No. 8 Yes I’m a Beast (7-2) went all the way in his last three local dirt sprints and his new trainer Crichton has strong stats first after the claim. The 5-for-9 gelding drew outside the other speed.
No. 3 Klugman (3-1) stalked the pace and landed the place as the beaten chalk in his local sprint debut Jan. 7. He was the strong favorite second time out Feb. 11, and he controlled a moderate tempo and ran off the screen that day. He meets other speed in his first start vs. winners and will likely have to stalk and pounce this time.
No. 2 Stormy Pattern (9-2) exits a comfortable front running maiden score as the favorite at one mile. He will probably stalk the pace in this spot and might be able to move forward a bit in his third start after a layoff.
