No. 4 Stanley House (4-1) rallied to finish a solid third from the inside post in the King’s Plate. He adds blinkers in hopes of staying a bit closer to the early pace, and he has run fast enough to compete here on numerous occasions.
No. 6 Kaukokaipuu (12-1) failed to show his customary early-pressing speed from an outer post in the King’s Plate. He was a gem of consistency prior to that race. He defeated Tuesday’s favorite Paramount Prince in the Queenston on June 11, and he can bounce back at playable odds. He has worked twice at Fort Erie, including a half-mile bullet on Sept. 5.
No. 8 Paramount Prince (8-5) got out there and controlled the pace in his last two stakes starts. He followed up a facile 11-1 victory in the Plate Trial with an 8-1 upset in the King’s Plate. Mark Casse’s improving gelding is the one to catch again, but he won’t offer much value this time.
No. 11 Ottawa (20-1) is a maiden after two starts, but he improved with the addition of blinkers over a route of ground second time out. His speed ratings put him in the mix for a minor award.
