Tuesday's Best Bet: Macdonough steps up to the plate

Tuesday’s third race from Finger Lakes is the Tin Cup Chalice Stakes for 2-year-olds dashing six furlongs on the main track. The scheduled post time is 2:08 p.m. EDT.

No. 3 Macdonough (4-1) broke slow and never got involved in his local bow. In his second career start, he scooted to the front and stayed clear throughout in a sharp effort. He shows a local bullet workout for this and looks like the one to catch. 

No. 4 Allure of Money (1-1) stalked the pace and settled for the place behind Macdonough in his sprint debut. He stretched out and aired as the favorite second time out. He turns back and projects a stalking trip, and he won’t offer much wagering value. 

No. 6 Mo Trump (3-1) added blinkers and graduated second time out, and was clearly second best behind a runaway winner in the Aspirant Stakes on Sept. 26. He was no threat as a longshot in his last stakes start. He figures to stalk the pace while out in the clear and should be competitive in this heat.
