No. 9 Limited Liability (9-2) is the best closer in this field. He completed the trifecta in a trio of turf route stakes and exits an unplaced effort from an outer post in the Belmont Derby (G1). He runs well fresh and drilled a Saratoga turf bullet for this Aug. 2, and he might run past this group under his regular pilot Jose Ortiz.
No. 1 Royal Patronage (5-1) won two stakes races in Great Britain last year and was not embarrassed in the Belmont Derby (G1) and Saratoga Derby (G1) this summer. This is a better spot and Joel Rosario sticks with Graham’s Motion’s colt.
No. 7 Unanimous Consent (3-1) won his first three starts including the Woodbridge Stakes and exits an even 4th in the Pennine Ridge (G2). Chad Brown’s colt figures to stalk the pace and is a logical contender on paper.
No. 11 Grand David (6-1) was all over the pace and captured his last three all-weather routes at Gulfstream Park. The improving son of Tapiture won his first stakes in the Bear’s Den July 30 and is sharp enough to threaten these.
No. 8 Camp David (20-1) is now conditioned by Michael Maker and he showed ability in his two dirt route wins. He has some turf influences in his pedigree and his new rider Horacio Karamanos has been winning races with this barn recently.
