No. 5 Handsome Playboy (5-1) was full of run in the stretch in his sharp flat-mile turf bow at Monmouth Park. Gerald Bennett is sending out live runners at Presque Isle, and he has good stats with horses turning back in distance.
No. 7 Sir Lancelot (5-2) controlled the pace and pulled well clear in his dirt sprint debut at Delaware Park. He might be the one to catch under Jose Ortiz if he handles all-weather ground.
No. 4 Shammah (3-1) wired the field in his last two local sprints for a productive jockey-trainer team. He was the betting favorite in all three outings and should make his presence felt throughout.
No. 2 Hendrickson (10-1) added blinkers and looked good graduating in a local route second time out, and the runner-up and show finisher were both won their next starts. Graham Motion’s improving $150k purchase should save ground behind the speed and will try to get involved in the lane.
