Tuesday's Best Bet: Doppelganger gets class relief in Ballezzi Mile

Tuesday’s ninth race at Parx is the $75,000 M.P. Ballezzi Appreciation Mile for 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the main track. The scheduled post time is 4:26 p.m. EDT.

No. 9 Doppelganger (3-1) did not appear to like the wet track in the Grade 2 Charles Town Classic last time. That bullring oval can be tricky to handle, so I will give him a pass. He upset the field in the Carter (G1) in the spring and captured the Battery Park at Delaware on July 8. He has elevated his game since Brittany Russell took over the training duties this year. 

No. 2 Nimitz Class (7-2) was part of the exacta in his last nine starts, and he won six of those races. The early-pressing colt is a solid contender if he runs his normal race. 

No. 3 Offaly Cool (10-1) fired trifecta shots in his last six starts. He blew a clear lead at a longer distance last time, and he has stuck three times at one mile. 

No. 5 Magic Michael (8-1) is always part of the exacta when he competes at Parx. He enjoys this distance and should offer value. 

No. 7 Be Better (6-1) is a sharp Maryland shipper for Brittany Russell. He defeated Nimitz Class in the Deputed Testimony at Laurel Park on July 29. 

No. 8 King Kumbalay (6-1) exits a romping local state-bred stakes win in the slop. He is on top of his game and figures to stalk the pace.
