No. 7 Commodore Barry (2-1) earned a decent speed rating in an off-the-pace score against $25k claimers at this course and distance Sept. 15. He always finishes in the top three at this distance and easily could make it two straight local wins.
No. 6 Shoot Your Cuffs (3-1) completed the exacta in his last four local starts. His trainer shows a profit with horses turning back in distance, and he is a logical contender in his current form.
No. 5 Aegontheconqueror (4-1) set the pace and graduated in a local special weight sprint Sept. 20. The lightly raced gelding is probably the target in a race lacking front-end speed.
No. 3 Pure Hank (9-2) is a good candidate to round out the trifecta. He did just that in four of his last seven starts and probably will attend the pace.
