Thursday's Best Bet: Mariachi is a capable sprinter at Aqueduct
Thursday’s eighth race at Belmont at Aqueduct is an optional-claiming event for New York-bred 3-year-olds and up dashing six furlongs on the main track. The scheduled post time is 4:25 p.m. EDT.

No. 4 Mariachi (7-2) could not see out the 1 1/8 miles distance in the Albany on Aug. 27. He ran well in all four dirt sprints and this is his winning distance. He should attend the pace under his winning rider Kendrick Carmouche.
No. 6 Radio Red (9-2) ran well in all four sprint starts on a fast track. Joel Rosario strings along and he projects a stalking trip at a hint of a price.
No. 5 Perfect Munnings (5-2) ran off the screen in a $25k claimer in his Saratoga return on Aug. 23, and Steve Asmussen claimed him from Linda Rice that day. The regression candidate might take too much win action.
No. 9 Brew Pub (8-1) is probably worth using underneath but I don’t really consider him a viable win candidate. He is 0-for-18 on a fast track and just 3-for-40 in his career. He moves up on a wet track but won’t get that footing on Thursday. I will key him underneath in a trifecta wager.
