No. 3 King Angelo (5-2) returned to dirt in his last three starts and ran well each time. He cruised by 5 3/4 lengths in the slop on Jan. 13 and missed by a nose on Feb. 18. He reconnects with his winning rider Manny Franco.
No. 6 Sheriff Bianco (3-1) fired trifecta shots in his last nine starts. Linda Rice’s consistent gelding owns running style versatility.
No. 7 Big Engine (9-2) earned a quality speed rating in a nose victory at 11-1 odds over King Angelo on Feb. 18. The veteran gelding added blinkers last time and should be heard from in the lane.
No. 5 High Oak (6-1) captured his 2021 bow and followed that up with a stakes score in the Saratoga Special (G2). He was fourth in his next start in the Hopeful (G1), and that ended his juvenile campaign. He stalked the pace, fell and walked off in the Fountain of Youth (G2) last year, and he disappeared for a year. He stalked and faded to last in his Gulfstream return, and I am not sure what we will get from him in this spot.
