Thursday's Best Bet: Carbon makes an impression at Aqueduct

Thursday’s seventh race at Aqueduct is an entry-level allowance event for New York-bred fillies and mares dashing seven furlongs on the main track. The scheduled post time is 3:40 p.m. EST.

No. 9 Carbon (3-1) is on the upswing for Linda Rice. Her last three dirt sprint efforts were solid, and she might appreciate the added furlong of this race. She could easily wear down the early runners in the lane.  

No. 7 Cinderella’s Cause (6-1) captured her last two starts at six panels. The early-pressing filly might be able to maintain sharp form in her third start after a layoff. 

No. 11 Liberty Flame (10-1) is the only entrant with a win at seven panels. She wired the field in her maiden score at this course and distance in the spring. She did not have a great trip on Nov. 18 and might have more to offer in her third start after a layoff. 

No. 1 Mia Be a Star (9-2) is not big on winning, but she frequently hits the board. She should save all the ground before launching her rally.
