Sunday's eighth race from Santa Anita Park is an optional claiming event for 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the main track. The scheduled post time is 6:30 p.m. EDT.

No. 8 Street Ruckus (4-1) made a bold wide bid before settling for a clear show finish in a similar local dirt route on Oct. 9. He was my top choice last time, and I thought he ran a quality race considering the wide journey. He reconnects with his winning rider Juan Hernandez and figures to stalk outside again. Hopefully he can save a bit more ground this time.

No. 7 Hero Status (8-5) got over the hump in his romping maiden win as the strong favorite at Del Mar on Sept 2. He adds blinkers and drilled a local bullet for this on Oct. 23. He meets a mediocre bunch and could easily take this as the favorite.

No. 4 Lord Dragon (6-1) exits a wide journey in an optional claiming dirt route, and Robertino Diodoro claimed for $40k that day. He has a good overall record at this distance and should be finishing under Ramon Vazquez.

No. 5 Exaulted (3-1) missed by a head from the inside post in the same my top choice exits. I like his tactical speed, but he always settles for minor awards.
