Sunday's Best Bet: Slew's Tiz Whiz aces test in Longacres Mile

Sunday’s eighth race from Emerald Downs is the $150,000 Longacres Mile for 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the main track. Post time is 9 p.m. EDT.

No. 1 Slew’s Tiz Whiz (8-1) is on top of his game. He smartly rallied to win his last two local sprints, including a stakes score July 24. The five-time local winner handles a route of ground and should get pace to chase.

No. 2 Top Executive (6-1) might work out a decent stalking trip behind lively fractions. He likes this oval and won a local stakes route last summer. He is sharp, fresh and tactical.

No. 4 Background (2-1) rallied to win this event last year as the favorite but was sharper heading into that event. He has won twice this year but was up the track in two of his last three starts. He fits with these on his best day.

No. 3 Majestic Eagle (4-1) is a turf specialist with the class to win a race like this. He is 0-for-3 on dirt.

No. 7 Unmachable (15-1) won his last two sprints and is a decent sort at one mile. He ran OK in this affair last year and might outrun his odds.
