Sunday's Best Bet: Skyler's Scramjet ready to roll in Gravesend Stakes
Sunday's eighth race from Aqueduct is the $100,000 Gravesend Stakes for 3-year-olds and up dashing six furlongs on the main track (Post Time - 3:47 p.m. ET).
#6 SKYLER'S SCRAMJET (3-1) drew outside the other speed and is 4-for-6 at this course and distance. He started the year with back-to-back local six furlong wins including the Grade 3 Tom Fool, and today's rider, Dylan Davis, has guided him home twice. He makes his first start in more than six months and has multiple local bullets in his holster.
#5 Gold for the King (9-5) is a razor-sharp New York-bred with a strong record at this course and distance. Joel Rosario was aboard for his last three romping wins, and he will probably stalk the pace today.
#4 Always Sunshine (6-1) reconnects with winning rider Frankie Pennington, and his best race puts him in the mix throughout.
#1 Life in Shambles (5-2) won his last two dirt sprints, including the Grade 3 Fall Highweight at 6-1 last time. I am not sure he can run the same race from the inside post, and the price will be much lower today.
#3 Runaway Lute (8-1) looked good in back-to-back state bred wins at Belmont Park before disappointing as the favorite vs. a couple of these in the Fall Highweight last time.
#2 Recruiting Ready (6-1) only knows one way to go, and his presence ensures an honest pace. The inconsistent colt might need the outing in his first start for Stanley Hough.
