Sunday's Best Bet: Shedaresthedevil a bold presence in Anoakia Stakes

Sunday’s 7th race from Santa Anita Park is the $75,000 Anoakia Stakes for 2-year-old fillies dashing six furlongs on the main track (Post Time - 6:47 p.m. ET).

#1 SHEDARESTHEDEVIL (2-1) is back in a preferred dirt sprint in her third start after a layoff. She won her dirt sprint bow from post 1 at Churchill Downs June 13, and just missed the place in the Sorrento (G2) Aug. 3. Last time, she set the pace and weakened to 4th as the beaten chalk in a flat mile turf stakes. She will probably stalk the pace from the rail under Flavien Prat.

#2 Pure Xena (5-2) ran off the screen in her five panel debut at Del Mar, and was outgunned in the Del Mar Debutante (G1) last time. She adds blinkers and this is a much better spot.

#4 Leucothea (5-2) has had everything go wrong since her 14-length maiden romp vs. $62.5k claimers Aug. 15. She had no shot in her last two grade one starts vs. Bast (uncomfortable trip Aug. 31 & tossed rider Sept. 27). She reconnects with winning rider Abel Cedillo and drilled a bullet Oct. 8.

#3 Buyer’s Remorse (6-1) is a maiden with some ability. She was clearly second best in her dirt sprint bow and was pitched way over her head in the Chandelier (G1) Sept. 27.
